Who's Involved

Within the rural areas of Africa, resides a problem that no wildlife can protect themselves from. From elephants to rhinos, the possibility of endangerment now lingers because of price tag that they carry. The culprits? Poachers… Poaching is a problem because of the negative effect it brings to all side of the conflict, participants or not. These are the players involved in the ongoing fight.

International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF)

Founded: 2009

IAPF operates on ex-military personals, volunteers and federally-funded forces to combat poachers. Even assembling a team of experts that is all female. IAPF patrols hostile areas, such as the Mozambique-African border, and engages in firefights in order to protect elephants and rhinos. They use the digital world to attract volunteers and funding, constantly updating their website and uploading videos. They are one of the frontier forces against Poaching

Veterans Empowered To Protect African Wildlife (VETPAW)

Founded: 2013

VETPAW is a group of post 9/11 US veterans that offers protection and combats poaching on the provinces of Africa. They offer training to local park rangers and is another leader in the fight against animal and human oppression.

Time immemorial

Poaching is defined as the illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals. It is a product of poverty due to lack employment opportunities and situational circumstance. For instance the limited potential for agriculture and livestock production in rural parts of Africa. Poaching an illegal activity consisting of individuals with no regards to law, rules, regulations and nature itself.
